The Sonnet Morpheus is a high-end digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that offers exceptional musicality. Developed by Cees Ruijtenberg (founder of Metrum Acoustics), it features a non-oversampling (NOS) R-2R ladder DAC design for natural, fatigue-free sound reproduction. The MK-II is now equipped with an additional -10dB attenuator that allows the Morpheus to be combined as a digital preamplifier with highly sensitive tube designs.
In terms of sound, Morpheus can be described as warm and perhaps dark. However, it features fantastic microdynamics where you precisely hear every nuance. Midrange is the highlight of this DAC, delivering hauntingly beautiful vocals. The NOS implementation also means that you receive time-perfect audio playback with no time-smearing.
